The SonFlower Ministry exists to provide a Christ-centered, inclusive environment for individuals with special needs.
We desire to partner with families as they participate in the life of our church.
The SonFlower Ministry exists to provide a Christ-centered, inclusive environment for children, students and adults with special needs or who are neurodivergent. SonFlower is open to individuals of all ages, and we desire to partner with families and caregivers as they fully participate in the life of our church. We offer a safe, welcoming space where every person can experience the love of Jesus and enjoy being an active part of our faith family.
We ask families to contact our SonFlower Ministry Coordinator, Andrea Henderson at andrea@chapinccc.org, prior to visiting in order to ensure we are prepared for your child, student or adult family member.
In most situations, SonFlower uses a Buddy System, where an individual is paired with a trained one-on-one Buddy who provides personalized support while they attend Wave Children’s Ministry at 11:15 am, or Fusion Student Ministry, alongside their peers. When additional support is needed, individuals may be served in our SonFlower classroom led by at least two trained adult leaders who provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.
Serve in SonFlower by becoming a Buddy or an Adult Leader and help create a welcoming, Christ-centered environment where individuals of all abilities can belong, grow, and experience the love of Jesus. Your presence and compassion make a lasting difference for individuals, families, and our church community.
Buddies are trained, one-on-one assistants who walk alongside neurodivergent individuals, providing personalized support in children’s ministry and student ministry. Each buddy is thoughtfully matched to help ensure a safe, welcoming, and meaningful experience while encouraging participation with peers. Our goal is for every individual to feel valued, supported, and fully included as they grow in faith and experience the love of Jesus within our church family.
Adult leaders are trained volunteers who serve in the SonFlower classroom, providing compassionate guidance and Christ-centered teaching for individuals with special needs or who are neurodivergent. These leaders use a thoughtfully developed curriculum designed to meet participants where they are, encouraging spiritual growth, engagement, and meaningful connection. Serving in teams of at least two, Adult Leaders create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where every individual is known, valued, and encouraged to experience the love of Jesus.
